The year starts in winter with the gardener, having lifted the last of his crop, digging over the ground and removing any last trace of weed. Putting out the Poly Tunnels to keep the soil in good condition throughout the winter and to warm the soil for early planting. The soil will be more friable and the first weeds will be so much easier to pull up.

The Poly Tunnel will protect newly planted seed from birds and bad weather, and will keep new weed seeds out. The fact that the Poly Tunnel has warmed the soil is very important for earlier germination and faster growth. Plug plants will grow on quickly and will not be ‘checked’ by cold soil.
